For a company, Claude and ChatGPT cost almost the same: Claude Team and ChatGPT Business start at USD 20 per user per month billed annually. The difference is not the price but how they connect to your systems, how they are managed and which tasks each one does best. Here we compare them using published data and tell you when we choose each one.

Where Claude stands out
From an implementation standpoint, these are the points that matter most:
- Connecting to in-house systems. MCP was born at Anthropic and is the native way to connect Claude to a CRM or an ERP. Connectors are managed at the organization level.
- Skills and Cowork. Skills store each department's processes and Cowork carries out multi-step tasks on files and tools.
- Claude Code for IT. It comes included in the Team and Enterprise seat, with no additional subscription.
- Mix-and-match seats. On Team you can keep most people on Standard and only heavy users on Premium.
Where ChatGPT makes more sense
The answer is not always Claude. ChatGPT may make more sense if:
- Your team already uses it daily and has custom GPTs in place that would be hard to migrate.
- You need built-in image generation as a core part of the team's work.
- Your company runs on Microsoft and prefers to stay in that ecosystem; in that case it is also worth evaluating Copilot.
How to decide in one week
Instead of comparing feature lists, run a short test with real use cases:
- Pick 3 real tasks from different departments (a proposal, a report, a spreadsheet analysis).
- Try them in both with the same files and the same person.
- Measure time and corrections needed on the output.
- Review administration SSO, user offboarding and what your security team requires.
