Updated November 1, 2026. OpenAI prices change often: confirm them on the official page before buying. Amounts in US dollars.
Short answer
Plus costs USD 20 per month and is for one person. Business is the team plan: it is paid per user, USD 20 per month billed annually (USD 25 if billed monthly), and adds a shared workspace, centralized administration and data settings for the company. If two or more people share business information, Business usually makes more sense. If one person uses it, Plus is enough.
What each plan is
- Plus: a personal account with higher usage limits than the free plan. It has no team administration.
- Business: per-user accounts inside a company workspace. An administrator adds and removes people, and by default the workspace data is not used to train models.
- Enterprise: a custom plan with direct sales and a negotiated contract. We treat it separately because its price is not public.
How much each option costs
These are the values we found for November 2026. We could not verify them on OpenAI's official pricing page when writing this: they come from specialized sources published in October 2026 and must be confirmed before you buy.
| Plan | Price per user | Who it is for |
|---|
| Plus | USD 20 per month | One person who uses ChatGPT for their own work |
| Business (standard seat) | USD 20 per month billed annually, USD 25 monthly. 2-seat minimum | Teams that share a workspace and administration |
| Business (Premium seat) | USD 100 per month annual, USD 125 monthly | Heavy users who need higher limits |
| Enterprise | Custom | Large companies with security and contract requirements |
When Plus is enough
Plus is the right choice when one person uses ChatGPT to write, research or analyze data, and does not need to share conversations or settings with anyone. It also fits occasional use: a personal USD 20 account per month is cheaper than setting up a team workspace for two.
When Business makes sense
- Two or more people work with the same clients, spreadsheets or processes.
- You want an administrator to control additions, removals and permissions from one place.
- The business information is sensitive (prices, customer data, contracts) and you need clear usage rules.
- You want the team's instructions and know-how not to depend on one person's account.
If you already use Claude's Team plan for these tasks, the price comparison is nearly identical. The difference is the ecosystem. We review it in Claude vs ChatGPT for business.
How to choose in a week
Before paying, run a short test. Pick three real tasks from the team (for example, answering inquiries, drafting a proposal, analyzing a spreadsheet), run them on Plus and measure time and quality. If the result depends on sharing files or rules between people, the answer is Business. If the task is individual, Plus.
What about the name "Team"?
Many guides and searches still use the name ChatGPT Team. For today's comparison, use the Business plan on OpenAI's official page as your reference and confirm current names before deciding.
