Short answer
Claude Code has no price of its own: it is included in Claude's paid plans. From Pro (USD 17 per month billed annually, USD 20 if billed monthly) you can use it within usage limits. For daily work without interruptions, Max (USD 100 per month) or a Team plan (from USD 20 per seat billed annually) are the options we would consider.
Real cost depends less on the plan than on how much you use it. Testing first is the sensible move.
What Claude Code is
Claude Code is an Anthropic agent that works inside a folder on your computer: it reads files, writes changes, runs commands and shows you what it did. You can use it from the terminal, the desktop app, the browser or an editor extension.
It is not a chat for writing text. It is built for multi-step file tasks: sorting documents, building a report from spreadsheets, creating a simple web page or automating something you currently do by hand.
How much it costs: the plans that include it
According to Anthropic's pricing page, checked on November 1, 2026, Claude Code is included in these plans:
| Plan | Price | What it means for Claude Code |
|---|
| Pro | USD 17 per month (annual) or USD 20 (monthly) | Limited usage every 5 hours and every week. Good for testing and one-off tasks. |
| Max | USD 100 per month | Five times Pro's usage. For people who use it almost all day. |
| Ultra | USD 200 per month | No 5-hour limit and ten times Pro's usage. |
| Team | USD 20 per standard seat (annual) or USD 25 (monthly). Premium seat: USD 100 (annual) | Claude Code on every seat, centralized administration and up to USD 500 per month in pooled API credits. |
| Enterprise | USD 20 per seat per month (annual), 20-seat minimum, plus usage at API rates | Roles, spend limits and analytics for large teams. |
Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes. We explain how to pay from Argentina in our Claude plans guide.
Pro or Max: which one fits
Pro is enough to learn, test and do one-off tasks. The problem appears when Claude Code becomes part of daily work: the limits (every 5 hours and every week) are shared with chat, so a long session can stop you right when you are making progress.
If you will use it several hours a day, Max avoids those interruptions. If a whole team uses it, a Team plan makes more sense, because billing and permissions are centralized.
Can you use it if you do not code?
Yes, with conditions. Claude Code runs from the terminal or the desktop app, and you need to define clearly which folder it can touch and what task it must do. Without technical experience it works best with concrete tasks: sorting and renaming files, turning a spreadsheet into a report, drafting a proposal from notes or building a simple page.
For office tasks around documents and connectors, the product designed for that is Claude Cowork. We explain it in what Claude Cowork is and how to use it.
How to start in five steps
- Choose the plan. Pro to test. Max or Team for daily use.
- Install Claude Code following Anthropic's official documentation and sign in with your account.
- Create a work folder just for this project. Do not give it access to your whole disk.
- Write an instructions file (CLAUDE.md) with the context: what your business does, the output format you want and what it must not touch.
- Start with a small, reviewable task. For example, sorting 50 files or summarizing three documents. Review each change before moving on.
Common mistakes
- Granting broad permissions on day one. Start with read access and approve each write.
- Not watching usage. Check your plan's usage before a limit cuts you off mid-task.
- Trusting the output without review. An agent that runs commands can break something if nobody looks.
- Using it without context. Without an instructions file, every session starts from zero.
When to ask for help
For a curious individual, testing Claude Code on Pro is cheap and helps you understand the tool. Once it becomes a team tool, questions about permissions, security, templates and training appear. At We make it Lab we implement Claude in companies: setup, connectors, Skills and team training.
