Google Business Profile: New "Collected Info" Feature That Affects Your Local Visibility

Cristian CabreraSeptember 16, 2026 | 5 min
Google just launched a feature that most businesses don't know exists. It's called "Collected Info" and it's already affecting your business visibility in local searches. Google contacts you by phone, SMS or WhatsApp at your verified profile number, saves your responses, and uses that information to decide when and how to show you to potential customers.
The most important thing: this information is being collected without many business owners knowing. Google uses automated systems to call or message businesses, and any data you provide in those conversations may end up updating your Google Business Profile.
What is "Collected Info" in Google Business Profile?
"Collected Info" is a new tab within the Google Business Profile management dashboard. There you can see all the information that Google's automated assistant collected about your business through phone calls, text messages, or WhatsApp conversations.
- Google contacts you automatically Google sends automated messages (via call, SMS or WhatsApp) to the verified phone number on your profile. The goal is to confirm your business data: services you offer, business hours, coverage areas and more. Everything you respond is recorded.
- It uses that info for search matching According to Google: "This info was collected in phone or chat conversations with your business. It's used to match your business with customers looking for services like yours." In other words: what you respond directly influences whether you appear when someone searches for a service you offer.
- Got a weird call from Google? It wasn't spam Many business owners ignore these calls thinking they're spam or scam attempts. In reality, it's Google's automated system collecting data. If you don't respond or respond with incorrect information, your profile may end up showing data that doesn't represent you.
How to review and manage collected information
Google now gives you access to see exactly what it recorded about your business and delete anything that's wrong. Here's how:
- 1. Go to your Google Business Profile Search for your business name on Google while logged in with the account that manages the profile. You'll see the management panel with options like "Edit profile", "Photos", "Read reviews", etc.
- 2. Select Edit profile then Collected Info Within profile editing, look for the "Collected Info" tab. There you'll see all the data Google collected through its automated messages, including the data source and the date it was collected.
- 3. Review data accuracy Each piece of data appears in the language it was originally provided in. Verify that services, hours and other information are correct and up to date.
- 4. Delete incorrect information If you find outdated or incorrect information, select "Delete". Important: deleting collected information removes it from Google's records but does not change other details already on your Business Profile. To change those, you need to edit them directly in your profile.

What if the "Collected Info" tab doesn't appear?
- Limited availability by region According to Google's official documentation, this feature is currently available only for select regions, languages, and business categories. If you don't see it in your profile, it means it hasn't been enabled for your location or business type yet.
- Monitor monthly Google is rolling out this feature progressively. We recommend checking your profile at least once a month to see if the tab has appeared. When it's enabled, you'll be able to see the full history of collected information.

3 actions you need to take right now
Don't wait for the tab to appear to take action. Here's what you can do today to protect your local visibility:
- 1. Verify your GBP phone number is correct If Google is calling an old or incorrect number, the information it collects could be garbage. Go to your profile and confirm that the verified phone number is your business's current number, where someone can respond with accurate information.
- 2. If Google contacts you, respond accurately When you receive a call, SMS or WhatsApp from Google's automated system, respond with exact data: services you offer, updated hours, coverage areas and any specialties. What you say becomes data that feeds the local search algorithm.
- 3. Check the "Collected Info" tab periodically Go to Edit profile and look for the collected information tab. If it's already available in your region, review and delete anything outdated or incorrect. If it doesn't appear yet, schedule checking it every month.
